Where you’ll be

This is a private, standalone yurt tucked into the woods, just across the shared driveway from an Airstream trailer (also available to rent, but not part of this stay). The lower property nearby is a private residence and is off-limits to guests. You're welcome to park directly across from the yurt. Everything you need for a cozy stay is inside the yurt itself.

Pets aren't welcome, unfortunately - there's a small dog on the lower property and we want to avoid any mishaps. There's no running water at the yurt, so please don't prepare or clean up food outside (raccoons are persistent!), and open fires aren't permitted on the property due to fire risk. Disposable cutlery is provided if you'd like to bring pre-cooked takeout to enjoy.

Please note: the yurt has one double bed suitable for 2 guests. If you're booking for 3 or 4 guests, you're welcome to bring extra guests but you'll need to provide your own bedding (such as an air mattress or sleeping bags) for the additional guests.

Getting around

Vashon Island is only reachable by ferry - there's no bridge access. Washington State Ferries run to Vashon from Fauntleroy (West Seattle), Southworth (Kitsap Peninsula), and Point Defiance (Tacoma). A car is the easiest way to get around once you're on the island, though there's also a local Metro bus route. Remember, parking for the yurt is off-property on the public road near the mailboxes, so you'll walk in the final stretch.

Neighborhood

The yurt sits on a wooded property facing the Puget Sound, with Sea-Tac Airport visible across the water. Uptown Vashon - with shops, restaurants, and a grocery store - is about 1.5 miles away, and KVI Beach, one of the island's best walking beaches, is roughly a mile away.

For things to do, don't miss Oscar the Bird King, Vashon's own troll and part of the larger Pacific Northwest troll trail - a true local favorite. For hiking, both Island Center Forest and the Bluffs Trailhead are wonderful options. To see what's happening socially on the island during your stay, check out VashonEvents.org.

Within about 1.5 miles of the yurt, you'll find just about everything you need: a great grocery store, a movie theatre, a wildly popular Thai restaurant, four local watering holes, two pizza places, a fantastic coffee shop, a bike shop, and a homemade ice cream creamery.
